Located in the heart of Padstow, Paul Ainsworth at No6 has built a reputation as one of the UK’s leading dining destinations. Set within a charming Georgian townhouse, the restaurant combines exceptional food with a warm and engaging guest experience.
JCA Consulting, led by Interior Design Director Eve Cullen-Cornes, supported the interior design of the restaurant, helping to shape a space that reflects both the energy of the kitchen and the personality of the brand.
The layout of the restaurant plays a key role in the overall experience. Guests can see into the kitchen, creating a strong connection between diners and chefs. This open and engaging approach brings energy into the space and reinforces the sense of a close-knit team delivering each service.
The design supports this atmosphere, ensuring the restaurant feels lively, welcoming and immersive from the moment guests arrive.
The interior scheme uses a refined and modern palette to create depth and character throughout the space.
Mercury grey tones form the base of the design, paired with textured wall finishes that add subtle variation and interest. These elements are contrasted with bold touches, including punk and pop art influences, which introduce personality and a contemporary edge.
Fine brass trims run through the detailing, adding warmth and a sense of quality. Accents of copper and leather further enhance the richness of the material palette.
The design draws inspiration from Padstow’s coastal setting. Subtle maritime references appear throughout the space, grounding the interior within its local context without becoming overly thematic.
A standout feature is the bespoke lighting installation known as “The Three Ships”, which acts as both a functional element and a design focal point. This feature reinforces the connection to the surrounding harbour and coastal heritage.
As a high-end, high-traffic restaurant, durability formed a key part of the design strategy. Wall panelling was introduced to support long-term maintenance while maintaining a high-quality finish.
This approach ensures the space remains visually strong while performing effectively under daily use.
In addition to the main dining area, the restaurant includes the Florence Parker Room, a private dining space designed for smaller groups. This area offers a more intimate setting while maintaining the same level of design detail and quality found throughout the restaurant.
The design at No6 works in harmony with the wider Ainsworth Collection, including Ci Ci’s Bar located above (see separate case study). Together, these spaces create a layered hospitality offering within the same building.
JCA Consulting’s involvement helped deliver an interior that balances elegance with personality. The result is a space that enhances the dining experience, reflects its coastal setting, and supports one of the UK’s most respected restaurant brands.
