Located in the Georgian town of Marlow, The Hand & Flowers is widely recognised as the UK’s only pub to hold two Michelin stars. Owned by Tom Kerridge, the venue attracts guests from across the country.
Alongside the restaurant, the offering extends to a collection of individually designed guest bedrooms. JCA Consulting, led by Interior Design Director Eve Cullen-Cornes, supported the design and fit-out of these accommodation spaces, creating interiors that match the quality and reputation of the dining experience.
The accommodation spans multiple cottages located around Marlow. Each building has been carefully converted to provide boutique-style guest rooms, while retaining the charm and quirks of the original architecture.
Period features remain visible throughout, including exposed beams, varied ceiling heights and traditional layouts. The design embraces these characteristics, using them to create rooms that feel authentic and full of personality.
Each bedroom has its own identity, yet all share a consistent level of comfort and quality.
The interior style combines traditional detailing with more contemporary elements. This balance creates a relaxed luxury that feels appropriate for both a high-end restaurant stay and a countryside retreat.
Rich floral wallpapers sit alongside softer neutral finishes. Whitewashed walls help to brighten the spaces, while leather chairs and upholstered headboards introduce warmth and texture.
Statement lighting, including hand-blown glass chandeliers, adds a sense of occasion and visual interest within the rooms.
Comfort sits at the centre of the design approach. Generous beds, layered fabrics and carefully selected furnishings create spaces that encourage guests to relax and unwind.
Bathrooms play a key role in the overall experience. Each room features its own distinct design, from marble finishes and brass fittings to more contemporary layouts with minimalist detailing. Features such as freestanding baths, rain showers and bespoke basins enhance the sense of luxury.
Additional touches, including in-room coffee facilities and carefully considered guest amenities, further elevate the stay.
The success of the bedrooms lies in the detail. Each space includes thoughtfully selected materials, bespoke elements and layered finishes that give depth to the design.
From decorative tiles and statement sinks to curated furniture and lighting, every element contributes to a cohesive and high-quality interior.
These details ensure that each stay feels considered, comfortable and memorable.
The bedrooms at The Hand & Flowers extend the overall hospitality offering beyond dining. They provide guests with a complete experience, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the setting and enjoy a relaxed overnight stay.
JCA Consulting’s involvement helped shape interiors that reflect the character of the brand while delivering a high standard of design and finish. The result is a collection of rooms that feel individual, welcoming and aligned with one of the UK’s most celebrated hospitality destinations.
