KEELE UNIVERSITY VETERINARY SCHOOL – COMPLETED

The Keele University Veterinary School reached completion despite the significant challenges presented by the Covid pandemic and exceptionally wet weather.

Heavy rainfall coincided with the roofing works and created further challenges for the project team. Despite these difficult conditions, the team completed the building on programme. This allowed the University to welcome its new student intake as planned.

The new 57,000 sq ft building provides specialist teaching facilities and a clinical skills centre. It also incorporates wet and dry laboratory areas. Live camera links within the facilities support practical demonstrations and live tutorials.

The design combines two and three-storey elements with extensive landscaped external areas.

Externally, distinctive copper cladding gives the building a strong identity. Meanwhile, a generous full-height atrium creates an impressive focal point at the entrance. The atrium also provides informal learning, breakout and social space for students.

The completed Keele University Veterinary School provides a modern environment for veterinary education and practical clinical training. The development successfully combines specialist teaching facilities with flexible spaces designed to support students throughout their studies.
